Have the faith of God!

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away. Jesus began to speak and said to them: Have the faith of God. Truly I say to you, if anyone says to this mountain: be removed from here and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt at all in his heart, but believes what he says will happen; he will see it come to pass. That is why I tell you: All that you ask when you pray, believe that you have received, and you will see it come to pass" (Mark 11:20-24 Interlinear).

Jesus, the Son of God, had the faith of God; He spoke out a word and it came to pass; also He asked his disciples to have the same faith as He had. In the context of faith and works, the apostle James said, "You believe God is ONE; you do well, the demons also believe, and they tremble" (James 2:19 Darby). The passage James 2:18-26 shows to what extent faith without works is useless, that is why God asks Abraham for a work of faith, the sacrifice of his only son Isaac, which was accounted to him as righteousness, which is to say that he was considered righteous because of this act of obedience.

God is ONE, He is the same yesterday, today and forever, and what He asked of Abraham, the father of all believers, He therefore asks of each one of us, the sons of Abraham through faith. Faith must produce works, if not it is dead, in other words, it does not even exist (James 2:26). The demons also believe God is ONE and they tremble for they know that if we have the faith of God, the same faith as Jesus, we shall do the same works as He did and even greater ones (John 14:12). Then as Jesus spent time with His Father, we, too, need to spend time with our Heavenly Father to know Him and His will.

God is ONE and He gave us His Spirit, which is why He asks us to have His faith in order to do His works. The demons tremble because if they know that we are exercising our authority in Christ, they are going to have to flee and submit to the Name of Jesus. So let us not doubt our authority in Christ and we will see our prayers answered! The demons know who Jesus is, they know also who Paul was, but do they know us as sons of God who have the authority of Jesus Christ? (Acts 19:15). If we enter into the faith of God and if we obey Him by keeping ourselves apart from the world's ways, He shall soon crush Satan beneath our feet (Romans 16:19-20).
