For a thousand years are... by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf "For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past, or like a watch in the night" (Psalm 90:4). The apostle Peter regards a thousand years as one day and one day as a thousand years (2 Peter 3:8). Moses regards also a thousand years as a watch in the night, that is to say four hours; like Peter we can also regards four hours as a thousand years. Daniel the prophet speaks of weeks of years, that is to say one day is as a year (Daniel 9:24). And man's life (seventy to eighty years old) is like grass that lasts one day (Psalm 90:6). As four hours are as a thousand years, we can also say one day is as six thousand years. So one day is as a year, or as eighty years, or as a thousand years, or as six thousand years. And if the Lord had used another scale for the seven days of Creation! His thoughts are far higher than our thoughts and His ways far higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9). |
