The just shall surround me

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"Bring my soul out of prison that I may praise your name! The just shall surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me [gamal]" (Psalm 142:8 Interlinear).

It is, in fact, when our soul is imprisoned that we need to be surrounded, literally encircled, so that God can work his good upon it. That is how it can be restored to peace. (Psalm 116:7)

God, then, works his good on our soul so that we may sing praises to Him (Psalm 13:6), in order to live and keep to His Word. (Psalm 119:17) and to find again the peace and tranquillity of a weaned [gamal] child with its mother (Psalm 131:2).
