I will awaken the dawn

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn" (Psalm 108:2).

Kings used to wake up after dawn, when the sun was already beginning to manifest itself. But David himself was awakened before dawn in order to praise the Lord in peace.

Thus David's heart grew stronger because this was a propitious hour to read and meditate the Torah (Psalm 108:1). As one French proverb declares: the future belongs to those who get up early. So let us start our day with God very early, for that is how it will belong to Him who crushes our enemy under our feet (Psalm 108:13).
