They believed His words

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"Then they believed His words and sang His praise" (Psalm 106:12 One New Man).

The psalmist repents on behalf of his people to have committed iniquity against God, that is to say, to have rebelled before crossing the Red Sea (Psalm 106:6-7). Then God made them know His power because of His Name, God their Saviour.

In reality, they had left Egypt and followed Moses not because they believed in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but because the Egyptians pressed them to leave the country. But when God made them cross the sea on dry ground, and destroyed their enemies, they then believed in Him and sang praises.
