Not one of His bones shall be broken

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, Not one of His bones shall be broken" (John 19:36).

Thus the Scripture concerning the Passover of the Lord was fulfilled (Exodus 12). This Passover was to be celebrated in the house, only with those who were circumcised, and with a slain lamb. This lamb was to be a male without blemish and with no broken bones (Exodus 12:5,46).

Jesus was the Lamb of God without blemish, sacrificed on the cross, and none of His bones was broken by the Roman soldiers. When we take the Lord's Supper (Communion) in the House of God (the Church) with circumcised hearts, we remember the Lamb of God sacrificed for us, and we proclaim His death. This Communion will end with the return of Jesus (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
