I have made his Name known to them

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"I have made his name known [gnorizo] to them, and I will make it known to them, so that they may be loved as you have loved me, and  that I may be in them" (John 17:26).

The Greek verb gnorizo means to learn to know, to make the acquaintance of someone, to enter into a relationship with someone. Jesus’ mission was to make God’s name known to us, which is to say, put us in a relationship with Him, so that we can receive His love.

He who does not love, has not known God, for God is love (1 John 4:8). Jesus causes us to know this God of love, and more particularly the love of the Father. When Christ is in us, then the Love of the Father is in us, too!
