The praise of men versus the praise of God

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"For they love praise of men more than the praise of God" (John 12:43).

In this context, many men in authority believed in Jesus because of his words. But, because they were afraid of losing their privileges and of being rejected, they did not not publicly confess what their hearts knew to be true.

They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God!

Only a vision of the glory of Jesus (His death on the cross, John 12:23-36, His resurrection and His place on the right of the Father, Ephesians 1:20), as in the example of Isaiah who saw the glory of Jesus and took on himself to speak of it (Isaiah 6:1-7), will give us the strength to open our lips and speak of Him (John 12:41).

It is the love of men's praise that closes our lips!
