Eliezer's prayer

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"And he said; Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success today and show kindness to my master Abraham!" (Genesis 24:12).

Eliezer, whom Abraham had sent to find a wife for his Isaac, spoke an urgent prayer to God to ensure success in his mission. It was a simple request free from all religiosity, and scarcely had he finished speaking before the response came (Genesis 24:15). He was astonished by it and kept silent (Genesis 24:21). Even before confirming that his mission was completely successful, he prostrated himself before God and thanked him for his response. (Genesis 24:26-27).

Eliezer means "God is a help". We are all called to pray to God the Father in the name of Lord Jesus Christ for all our needs. Let us enter our secret places, close the door and speak simply about our needs to our heavenly Father, who is with us there (Matthew 6:6).
