The land you are about to enter...

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden" (Deuteronomy 11:10).

Though He considers His people as a whole, but God speaks to each one individually so that he can closely listen to His commandments. While Israel was in Egypt, gardens were irrigated or watered manually by carrying water, but the promised land was watered by the rain of heaven.

God's eyes are continually on the country He is going to give us, with His rain in His time so that the soil produces its crops of wheat, wine and oil. We no longer have to watch where we put our feet, but we do need to look up to the God we love, to serve Him with all our heart and all our soul (Deuteronomy 11:11-16).
