Simplicity

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"I fear lest you are corrupted and are turned from the simplicity [aplotes] that is in Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:3).

The Greek word aplotes means simplicity, uprightness, directness; it comes from the word aploos, which expresses simple, not multiple, not complicated, not mixed, not diverted, frank, honest.

Simplicity characterises something that is easy to understand and to set in progress; it is certainly the case with the Good News of the Kingdom of God, since it is accessible to children. We must keep a watch on our thoughts, then, so that they do not complicate the message of Christ.
